    About the Human Resource Clerk Role

    This position offers you the chance to administer essential service benefits for Western Cape Government (WCG) employees. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth management of HR processes while contributing to the welfare of government employees.

    Key Responsibilities

    As a Human Resource Clerk, your daily tasks will include:

    1. Administering Service Benefits:
      • Pension administration
      • Salary processing
      • Housing allowances
      • Long-service recognition
      • Injury on duty claims
    2. Database Management:
      • Updating and maintaining employee records in compliance with HR protocols.
    3. Liaison Work:
      • Engaging with the Call Centre and Customer Relations Unit (CRU) managers.
      • Interacting with other government departments to ensure smooth HR operations.
    4. Drafting Correspondence:
      • Writing formal letters, memorandums, and emails for official communication.

    Requirements for the Role

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification).

    Recommendations

    • Relevant experience in human resource management.
    • PERSAL (Personnel and Salary System) Introduction Certificate.

    Competencies Needed

    • Strong understanding of HR legislation and service conditions.
    • High levels of confidentiality and ability to work under pressure.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Teamwork and independence in handling responsibilities.
