PROVINCIAL ADMINISTRATION: KWAZULU-NATAL DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
SALARY: R1 045 731 per annum, (all-inclusive salary package)
CENTRE: Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital (IALCH)
REQUIREMENTS:
Degree/Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery. Current registration with SANC as General Nurse and Midwife. A minimum of 10-years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 5 -years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience at management level as an Assistant Manager Nursing. Diploma/Degree in Nursing Administration will be an advantage. Knowledge, Skills, Training and Competencies Required: Knowledge of relevant legislative framework governing the public service. Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices. Possess communication skills for dealing with patients, and other members of the multidisciplinary team including the writing of reports. Good human relations displaying a concern for patients, promoting and advocating patients needs and expectations (Batho Pele). High concern for excellence, tenacity and resilience. Leadership and management skills. Problem analysis and decision making skills. Demonstrate a basic understanding of HR and Financial policies and practices. Demonstrate basic computer literacy as a support tool to enhance service delivery. Ability to plan and organise own work, time and that of support personnel to ensure proper nursing care in the units. Be able to work under pressure.
DUTIES:
- Provide guidance and leadership towards the realization of strategic goals and objectives of the nursing division.
- Provide professional, technical and management support for the provision of quality patient care through proper management of nursing care programs.
- Advocate and ensure the promotion of nursing ethos and professionalism.
- Develop and monitor the implementation of policies, programmes, regulations, practices, procedures and standards pertaining to nursing care.
- Represent Nursing Department in the Senior Management Team.
- Establish, maintain and participate in inter-professional and multi-disciplinary teamwork that promotes efficient and effective patient care across all domains.
- Ensure effective management, supervision and utilization of human and material resources. Ensure adherence to prescribed nursing policies and procedures.
- Supervise and ensure the provision of effective and efficient patient care through adequate nursing care.
- Deal with disciplinary and grievance matters.
- Evaluate and monitor compliance with clinical protocols, norms and standards of the hospital.
- Participate in implementation and adherence to National Core Standards.
- Work effectively and amicably with persons of diverse intellectual, cultural, racial, or religious differences.
