    The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) is currently recruiting candidates for the MSDS (Military Skills Development System). This programme applies to the following SANDF divisions namely, SA Army, SA Air Force, SA Navy, and the SA Military Health Service.

    What is MSDS?

    The Military Skills Development System (MSDS) is a program that focuses on recruiting and training young, unemployed South African citizens to become full-time members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF). The MSDS is a two-year program and successful applicants will receive training in various fields such as artillery, engineering, logistics, and signals.

    The program is designed to provide young individuals with an opportunity to acquire the necessary skills and qualifications to join the SANDF as full-time members. It also provides them with an opportunity to gain real-world experience and make a valuable contribution to the defence force.

    During the two-year program, MSDS members will receive training in military skills, as well as academics and leadership. They will also receive a stipend and accommodation during the program. After completion of the program, successful MSDS members will have the opportunity to join the SANDF as full-time members.

    It’s important to note that the MSDS program is highly competitive, and the selection process is rigorous. The SANDF will assess each applicant based on their qualifications, physical fitness, and personal characteristics.

    Requirements for SANDF MSDS applications 2023

    To apply for the MSDS, individuals must meet certain criteria, including:

    • South African citizen
    • Unemployed
    • Between the ages of 18 and 22
    • Matric/Grade 12 certificate
    • Medical fitness
    • No criminal record

    SANDF MSDS Application Process

    The application process for the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) Military Skills Development System (MSDS) typically involves several steps:

    1. Meet the eligibility requirements: you will need to meet all the above-mentioned requirements.
    2. Obtain the necessary documents: You will need to provide several documents as part of your application, including a copy of your ID, Matric certificate, and any other relevant qualifications.
    3. Submit your application: You can submit your application either via post or in person at an SANDF recruitment centre.
    4. Pass the selection process: If your application is accepted, you will be invited for selection tests and interviews. These tests and interviews will assess your qualifications, physical fitness, and personal characteristics.
    5. Attend training: If you are selected for the MSDS program, you will be required to attend training at an SANDF training facility. The training will include both military skills and academic courses and will last for two years.
    6. Join SANDF: Upon successful completion of the MSDS program, you will have the opportunity to join the SANDF as a full-time member.
