Data Science Graduate Programme
The Data Science Graduate Programme is tailored to nurture the next generation of data scientists in the context of central banking. This programme will focus on equipping participants with the skills necessary to tackle complex data analysis challenges faced by the SARB.
The SARB is seeking individuals who have completed, or are in the process of completing, a postgraduate qualification in fields such as:
- Data Science
- Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence
- Predictive Analytics Modelling
- Statistics
- Applied Mathematics
- Digital Technology
- Fintech
- Economics with Econometrics
- Business Mathematics and Informatics
Additionally, the ideal candidate should be proficient in coding languages such as R and Python, possess a strong academic record (average mark of 70% or higher), and demonstrate innovative, self-motivated, and analytical thinking. Experience in Fintech is also highly desirable. Communication and interpersonal skills are essential for success in the programme, as graduates will be required to work collaboratively and effectively in teams.

Graduate Development Programme
In addition to the Data Science track, the Graduate Programme at the SARB provides an equally rewarding opportunity for graduates from diverse fields. This programme is designed to offer exposure to various departments within the SARB, with the goal of developing well-rounded central bankers.
The graduate will spend a year at the SARB Head Office, where they will be assigned to one of the departments and gain hands-on experience in various tasks and projects. Like the Data Science programme, graduates will also participate in learning interventions at the SARB Academy, where they will acquire essential central banking knowledge. These interventions cover a broad spectrum of subjects, ranging from monetary policy to financial stability and currency management.
