    Position Overview

    This is a part-time position (50%) with a focus on supporting academic activities within the School of Physiology. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of laboratory experiments, enhancing the use of technology in practical assessments, and assisting with research projects and administrative tasks.

    Key Responsibilities

    As an Academic Support Officer, you will:

    • Laboratory Support: Ensure that experiments can be undertaken in laboratories.
    • Technology Enhancement: Enhance the use of technology in practicals.
    • Resource Management: Upload and update information and resources on ULWAZI.
    • Research Assistance: Assist with research projects and practicals.
    • Administrative Tasks: Perform various administrative tasks to support the academic staff and students.

    Qualifications and Experience

    To be eligible for this Academic Support Officer position, you should have:

    • Educational Qualifications: A minimum Honours degree in Physiology.
    • Experience:
      • Experience working in a physiology laboratory.
      • Experience with physiology practicals.
      • Experience with technology-driven practicals (e.g., PowerLab/Biopac systems) would be advantageous.

    Remuneration

    The remuneration package will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. It includes a provident fund, medical aid, and bursaries, subject to the University’s regulations.
