Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Limpopo General Workers Requirements:
- Educational Qualification: Must have completed Grade 10 or equivalent ABET/AET Level 2 qualification.
Knowledge, Competencies, and Skills:
- Proficiency in basic literacy and numeracy.
- Ability to read and write effectively.
- Familiarity with security services and procedures.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Good interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration.
- Capability in report writing to document observations and incidents accurately.
Duties:
- Perform routine manual farming activities.
- Control the movement of cloven-hooved animals.
- Stop, register, and search vehicles in the redline area.
- Inspect meat, dairy products, dung, grass, hides, skins, etc.
- Confiscate any listed products as necessary.
- Open and close gates as required.
- Report confiscated products to supervisors for further action.
- Conduct regular patrols along the fence line.
- Perform routine checks and repair any breaks in the redline fence.
- Track animal movements along the fence line.
- Clear vegetation and bushes along the redline fence.
- Exercise control over quarantined animals.
- Verify permits for quarantined animals.
- Coordinate with Animal Health Technicians for inspections.
- Maintain accurate records, including permits and registers for quarantined animals and vehicle movements.
