Key Responsibilities
As a Midvaal Local Municipality electrician, you will be entrusted with the following duties:
- Supervision and Management: Oversee personnel allocated to you and ensure they perform their tasks efficiently. This includes monitoring performance, maintaining discipline, and ensuring productivity in the execution of tasks.
- Maintenance of Electrical Systems: Ensure that the electrical infrastructure is well-maintained, safe, and reliable. This includes both underground and overhead reticulation systems.
- Safety Responsibilities: You will be responsible for ensuring that safety protocols are strictly adhered to for both personnel and the electrical equipment under your control.
- Installations and Repairs: Installing new electrical connections as well as conducting repairs and upgrades to existing systems is a core aspect of the job. This role requires the ability to switch and operate up to 132 KV safely.
- General Electrical Maintenance: Carry out regular maintenance and repair work on the electrical reticulation system (HT and LT). Ensuring the reliability of electrical supply in the municipality will be one of your top priorities.
- Perform Standby and Overtime Duties: Be available for standby and emergency situations, which may include overtime responsibilities. Flexibility is a key aspect of the job.

Requirements
To be considered for the Midvaal Local Municipality Electrician Job, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualifications: Grade 12 (Matric) or N3, with a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent. You must also be a qualified electrician with a Red Seal qualification.
- Certification: A valid ORHVS and HV Operating Certificate will be an added advantage, and a Wireman’s Licence is highly desirable. Candidates must be certified to switch up to and including 132 KV and switch 11 KV.
- Work Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of relevant electrical experience is required, preferably within a local government setting.
- Additional Skills and Physical Requirements: You must be physically fit to handle strenuous work. A valid driver’s license with PDP is mandatory, along with experience in underground and overhead reticulation systems.
