Candidate EBS Artisan Job Purpose
The Candidate EBS Artisan will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing specialized electrical maintenance tasks, including:
- Repairing and maintaining electrical mains, electrical plants, and apparatus.
- Performing construction, testing, and maintenance of electrical reticulation systems.
- Ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Conducting routine administrative duties related to maintenance work.
This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of municipal buildings’ electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
As a Candidate EBS Artisan, you will be expected to carry out the following duties:
- Pre-Work and Site Preparation
- Assess and prepare sites for electrical repairs and maintenance.
- Ensure all safety protocols are in place before starting any work.
- Electrical Maintenance and Repairs
- Construct, maintain, and test electrical mains and reticulation systems.
- Repair and maintain electrical equipment in municipal-owned buildings.
- Operate electrical plants and ancillary equipment.
- Compliance and Safety Measures
- Verify that all completed work adheres to safety regulations.
- Ensure compliance with SABS Code of Practice for Wiring Premises 0142-1993.
- Address and resolve unsafe electrical installations immediately.
- Technical Support for Events
- Set up and operate stage lighting and related electrical equipment.
- Assist in event coordination and ensure electrical systems function optimally.
- Material and Equipment Management
- Order and maintain materials required for planned and emergency work.
- Transport materials and staff to different work sites as needed.
- Emergency Response
- Respond promptly to emergency electrical issues.
- Work outside normal hours when required, particularly during major municipal events.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Keep detailed records of maintenance and repairs.

Candidates with the following additional qualifications and experience will have an advantage:
- Completed Trade Test (Electrical).
- Two years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance and repair.
