    Job Description

    As a Driver at DBSA, you will be responsible for transporting employees, visitors, materials, and equipment to designated locations. You must follow a strict schedule, maintain the company vehicle, and adhere to traffic and safety regulations.

    Your duties will include:

    • Safely transporting staff and visitors to and from required destinations.
    • Ensuring vehicles are in good condition through routine maintenance.
    • Collecting and delivering important documents, parcels, and bank materials.
    • Keeping accurate records, including mileage and fuel usage.
    • Reporting vehicle breakdowns, accidents, or incidents promptly.

    This role requires someone who is punctual, responsible, and committed to high safety standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Transport and Delivery

    • Drive DBSA staff, executives, and visitors to designated locations safely and on time.
    • Maintain an updated logbook before and after each trip.
    • Comply with South African traffic laws and road safety regulations.
    • Accurately record mileage and odometer readings for compliance with SARS regulations.
    • Handle parcel deliveries and document collections for the organization.
    • Deliver Board documents to Board Members securely.
    • Collect and deliver foreign exchange documents for the Treasury department.
    • Transport official DBSA materials to various locations.

    2. Vehicle Maintenance

    • Conduct daily vehicle inspections, checking oil, water, fuel, and tire pressure.
    • Ensure proper wheel alignment and tire condition.
    • Keep the vehicle clean and roadworthy at all times.
    • Schedule and book vehicle servicing within the required timeframe.
    • Report any mechanical issues to the relevant department.
    • Ensure the vehicle contains emergency tools (first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, reflective triangles).
    • Monitor fuel usage and ensure timely refueling.

    Requirements & Qualifications

    To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

    Minimum Requirements

    • Education: Minimum Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
    • License: Valid Driver’s License with a Passenger Driver Permit (PDP).
    • Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience as a passenger and delivery driver.
    • Skills: Strong knowledge of traffic laws and safe driving practices.

    Technical Competencies

    Written Communication: Ability to fill out forms, reports, and logbooks.
    Verbal Communication: Can clearly explain routes and instructions.
    Computer Literacy: Basic understanding of digital systems used for scheduling and reports.

    Key Internal & External Liaison Relationships

    Internal: DBSA employees and executives.
    External: DBSA delivery recipients, Board Members, commercial banks, and government offices.
