    There is now a fantastic chance for South African graduates looking to launch their careers and gain crucial job experience. Opportunities are now available for Transnet Freight Rail’s (TFR) Young Professional-in-Training Program, which provides unemployed graduates with a two-year development program that is organised and guided across multiple functional areas.

    These roles, which are open in Heidelberg, Gauteng (Reference: req2650) and Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal (Reference: req2649), give chosen applicants institutional knowledge and on-the-job training, improving their employability prospects.


    About the Transnet Young Professional-in-Training Programme

    • Transnet Freight Rail, a key division of Transnet SOC Ltd, is committed to investing in the development of South Africa’s young talent.
    • Through this initiative, graduates between the ages of 18 and 35 will be exposed to professional workplace experiences designed to build practical skills, improve industry knowledge, and support career readiness.
    • Successful applicants will undergo a structured 24-month programme, where their progress will be assessed every six months to ensure alignment with both individual career goals and Transnet’s expectations.

    Requirements

    The Young Professional-in-Training Programme is open to unemployed graduates who have completed their studies at Department of Higher Education & Training registered institutions, including:

    • Universities
    • Universities of Technology
    • TVET Colleges

    Applicants must hold one of the following qualifications:

    • National Diploma
    • Diploma
    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • BTech Qualification

    A minimum of NQF Level 6 or higher is required. No prior work experience is necessary, making this an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to gain their first professional experience.

    1. Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal

      • Reporting To: Senior Specialist: Capacity Development
    2. Heidelberg, Gauteng
      • Reference Number: req2650
      • Grade: GRAD_7
      • Department: SP-BUR-Young Professionals-Trainees-PKT
      • Reporting To: Senior Specialist: Capacity Development

    Both roles require graduates with a National Diploma in Safety Management. Candidates will be placed in various depots and departments within Transnet Freight Rail, where they will gain hands-on experience in their field of study.
