    Qualifications

    • A valid Code B/EB driver’s licence

    Experience

    • At least 2 years of relevant Project Management experience
    • Prior experience in construction-related disciplines or the built environment is recommended
    • Familiarity with ERP project monitoring systems is advantageous

    Technical Skills

    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Projects, Outlook)
    • Ability to work with organisational computerised tools (ERP systems, MS Visio, Excel, Projects)
    • Registration or certification with a professional body in Project Management or the built environment is advantageous

    Additional Requirements

    • Willingness to work outside normal working hours when necessary
    • Must be able to perform on-site project execution and monitoring tasks
    • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills

    Key Responsibilities

    As a Junior Project Manager, your role will be essential in supporting, planning, and executing projects within the City of Cape Town’s Economic Growth Directorate. Your key responsibilities include:

    1. Project Implementation and Monitoring

    • Use project management frameworks and methodologies to guide the successful execution of project phases
    • Apply customised project management standards and tools to meet corporate guidelines
    • Perform on-site project monitoring and execution

    2. Project Decision Support and Reporting

    • Provide project, programme, and portfolio decision support services
    • Assist in project risk management and problem-solving
    • Participate in project monitoring and reporting functions

    3. Project Development and Capability Enhancement

    • Develop and implement low-risk, smaller projects or support complex projects
    • Participate in project management training and skills development

    4. Contract and Supply Chain Management

    • Ensure all projects comply with corporate contract management and supply chain regulations
    • Perform administrative tasks for project planning and execution
