Requirements

  • Minimum three (03) years'
  • Bachelor’s degree/Advanced Diploma/BTech NQF Level 7 in Information Technology / Computer Science in Software Development.
  • A minimum of three (03) years in an information technology environment.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • A certificate in Database Administration (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Azure SQL) will be an added advantage.
  • Skills and Competencies: Knowledge and Comprehensive understanding of Database Administration.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge of database platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Azure SQL).
  • SQL scripting, backups and recovery, and performance monitoring of the SQL environment.
  • Database security principles and data protection; good troubleshooting skills.
  • Business process analysis and improvement, innovative, problem-solving; good interpersonal, conflict management, and report writing skills.
  • Project management.
  • People management and customer relations.

Duties

  • Conduct Database architectural designs and contribute to enterprise architecture; administer enterprise database systems across production, test, and development environments; perform routine database maintenance, performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization.
  • Execute database backups, restorations, and recovery processes in line with approved procedures.
  • Provide database support during system changes, upgrades, and deployments.
  • Apply database security measures and audit controls to protect sensitive and personal information.
  • Liaise with developers, infrastructure teams, and vendors to resolve system issues and produce technical reports related to database performance, incidents, and risks.
  • Maintain database documentation, configuration records, and operational procedures.
