    If you’re passionate about higher education and looking for a role that makes a difference, the South African Council on Higher Education (CHE) is offering Administration Job Opportunities that might be perfect for you. This statutory body plays a key role in advancing the quality and standards of higher education in South Africa. Currently, CHE is recruiting for two administrator positions within the Management of the Higher Education Qualifications Sub-Framework (M-HEQSF), offering a meaningful chance to contribute to the nation’s educational landscape.


    Administration Job Overview

    • Position: Administrator (2 Positions Available)
    • Sub-Programme: Management of the Higher Education Qualifications Sub-Framework (M-HEQSF)
    • Salary: R 308,154 per annum (excluding benefits)
    • Reporting to: Senior Manager, M-HEQSF Sub-programme

    About the South African Council on Higher Education (CHE)

    Established under the Higher Education Act (Act No. 101 of 1997, as amended), CHE operates independently to guide higher education quality standards and policies. As the Quality Council for Higher Education within the framework of the National Qualifications Framework Act (Act No. 67 of 2008), CHE’s responsibilities span advising the Minister of Higher Education, managing quality assurance through its Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC), and ensuring quality standards across educational institutions.

    Key Responsibilities

    As an Administrator in this role, you will handle a range of administrative and support functions, including data management, document organization, and meeting coordination. Specific duties include:

    • Data Collection and Management: Identifying relevant data sources, gathering and collating information, and keeping databases up-to-date and accurate.
    • Documentation and Research: Conducting research when requested, maintaining document integrity, and ensuring publications are organized and accessible.
    • Meeting Coordination: Scheduling, organizing, and setting up equipment for meetings, distributing agendas and materials, and managing event logistics.
    • Communication and Liaison: Acting as a point of contact for stakeholders, assisting with information requests, and facilitating strong communication within the organization.
    • Financial and Logistical Support: Processing invoices, travel claims, and maintaining equipment. Additionally, liaising with the Supply Chain to ensure all logistical needs are met.

    Required Qualifications and Skills

    The ideal candidate should have:

    • Educational Qualification: A diploma in administration, management, or a related field.
    • Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of office administration or related experience.
    • Key Competencies:
      • Organizational Skills: Attention to detail, commitment to quality, and strong organizational abilities.
      • Communication Skills: Proficiency in both verbal and written communication.
      • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
      • Analytical Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills and a strategic approach to challenges.
      • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.

    These competencies will ensure you can excel in managing information, organizing logistics, and providing high-quality support to the M-HEQSF sub-programme.
