Bookkeeper Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be expected to carry out various essential duties, including but not limited to the following:
- Maintain an Accurate Trial Balance/Ledger Accounts: The bookkeeper will be responsible for ensuring that the trial balance and ledger accounts are accurate and updated regularly.
- Generate Monthly Financial Accounts: Prepare and present monthly financial reports, identifying and quantifying risk limits.
- Ensure Proper Documentation: Ensure that all relevant supporting documentation is attached to requisitions and all financial records are in compliance with accounting standards.
- Reconcile Creditors Accounts: The bookkeeper will manage creditor accounts and ensure they are reconciled appropriately.
- Authorize Journal Entries: Monitor and authorize journal entries to ensure correct financial reporting.
- Finalization of Month-End Routine: The bookkeeper will be responsible for ensuring all inputs are finalized, and month-end closure routines are completed.
- Review and Reconcile General Ledger: The role includes running general ledgers, reviewing them for discrepancies, and making necessary adjustments to ensure accuracy.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile balance sheet items to the previous months and investigate any unusual movement.
- Provide Detailed Analysis: The bookkeeper will provide the accountant with detailed financial analysis as required.
In addition, the bookkeeper will be tasked with maintaining all general ledger accounts and reconciling intercompany accounts. The role will require consistent attention to detail and the ability to analyze complex financial data effectively.
Minimum Job Requirements
To apply for the Bookkeeper position at JOSHCO, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications and experience:
- Educational Requirements: A National Diploma in accounting or business administration, or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ working experience in a bookkeeping, financial, or similar environment.
- Knowledge and Skills: A solid understanding of basic bookkeeping principles and accounting systems, especially accounts payable and receivable.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with financial software, including SAP, Pastel, and other accounting software packages, is highly preferred.
- Competency in Financial Principles: A proven ability to calculate, post, and manage financial records accurately is essential.
