    Minimum Requirements

    • Qualification:
      An M+3 tertiary qualification in Financial Accounting or a finance-related field.
    • Experience:
      • At least 5 years of experience in Financial Accounting, preferably in a large organization.
      • A minimum of 2 years of experience specifically in budgeting.

    Knowledge and Technical Skills

    To excel in this role, the candidate should have a strong foundation in the following areas:

    1. VAT and Tax Legislation: Understanding and applying relevant tax laws.
    2. Financial Policies and Procedures of DUT: Comprehensive knowledge of internal financial rules and standards.
    3. GAAP/IFRS: Expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and International Financial Reporting Standards.
    4. Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet research. Familiarity with ITS Systems, SAP, or equivalent systems.
    5. University Statutes and Financial Costing Models: Experience with costing models and higher education financial regulations.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to direct customers regarding policy implementation.
    • Ability to compile, interpret, and analyze reports.
    • Strong business/commercial acumen.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will be expected to undertake a range of finance-related duties as directed by the Deputy Dean and the Finance Team. Key responsibilities include:

    General Ledger and Requisition Management

    • Processing and general ledger allocations of purchase requisitions.
    • Ensuring financial rules and procedures are adhered to.
    • Handling requisitions according to procedures, including foreign currency processing when required.
    • Managing claims for examiners, moderators, and lecturers.

    Financial Reporting and Customer Support

    • Preparing and managing budget reports specifically for the DUT Business School.
    • Handling queries related to reports and providing timely responses.
    • Maintaining accurate data and ensuring all financial records are up to date.

    Team Collaboration and Development

    • Coordinating capital budgets with the Director.
    • Assisting with special projects and preparing detailed reports as requested.
    • Managing professional self-development opportunities.

    Key Objectives and Deliverables

    • Submit budget reports within required timeframes.
    • Validate approved budgets for staff appointments.
    • Ensure smooth coordination of year-end financial activities.
