The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) is a department of the South African government that is responsible for tertiary education and vocational training and currently has several job vacancies. - As part of the application, you will need to upload several documents. Make sure you have digital copies (scans or clear photographs) of the following:
- A comprehensive CV (this is a document that includes information about your work experience, education, skills, and references)
- Copies of all your qualifications. This includes your matriculation certificate (high school diploma) and any other certificates, diplomas, or degrees you have earned.
- A copy of your identity document, such as your ID card or passport.
- A copy of your valid driver’s license.
- Any other documents that are specifically requested for the job you are applying for.

Selection Process
The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) requires a fully completed and signed Z83 form and a detailed CV for consideration in their application process. If you are shortlisted, you will need to provide certified copies of qualifications and other supporting documents on or before the interview day. If you have foreign qualifications, it is your duty to get them evaluated by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA).
Shortlisted candidates for SMS (Senior Management Service) posts will be tested on relevant job-specific technical elements. Successful candidates will have to pass a Competency Assessment and provide a Pre-entry Certificate.
Candidates will also need to sign an annual performance agreement, disclose financial interests, and pass a security clearance. If you’re not contacted within three months of the ad’s closing date, your application was likely unsuccessful. Applications received after the closing date will not be considered.
