    The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) is inviting applications for various exciting job opportunities across its offices. These positions offer a chance to make meaningful contributions to South Africa’s education sector while building your career. Below is a detailed list of the available vacancies, their requirements, and application procedures.


    List of Department of Higher Education and Training Vacancies

    1. Parliamentary and Cabinet Support (Ref No: DHET01/12/2024)

    • Salary: R849,702 per annum (all-inclusive package)
    • Location: Head Office, Pretoria
    • Requirements:
      • Bachelor’s degree/advanced diploma (NQF Level 7) in Political Science, Public Administration, or related field.
      • 3–5 years of junior management experience in parliamentary liaison services.
      • Knowledge of parliamentary and cabinet processes in South Africa.
      • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
      • Valid driver’s license.
    • Key Duties:
      • Provide administrative support to the Executive Authority.
      • Monitor parliamentary and cabinet events relevant to the department.
      • Coordinate parliamentary and cabinet submissions and briefing notes.
      • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on policy matters.

    2. Administrative Support and Coordination (Ref No: DHET02/12/2024)

    • Salary: R849,702 per annum (all-inclusive package)
    • Location: Head Office, Pretoria
    • Requirements:
      • Bachelor’s degree/advanced diploma (NQF Level 7) in Public Administration or related field.
      • 3–5 years of experience in administrative roles within political offices.
      • Proficiency in report writing, MS Office, and organizational skills.
      • Valid driver’s license.
    • Key Duties:
      • Manage administrative and coordination activities in the Executive Authority’s office.
      • Oversee document flow and maintain registers and databases.
      • Provide logistical support, including procurement and budget management.
      • Facilitate compliance with the MISS prescripts for document handling.

    3. Administration Clerk (Ref No: DHET03/12/2024)

    • Salary: R216,417 per annum
    • Location: Cape Town (2 Posts)
    • Requirements:
      • National Senior Certificate (NCV Level 4).
      • At least one year of administrative experience.
      • Proficiency in MS Office and document management.
    • Key Duties:
      • Perform general administrative tasks, including document handling and filing.
      • Support supply chain processes, including procurement and asset management.
      • Maintain leave records and facilitate travel arrangements.
      • Update expenditure records and petty cash requisitions.

    4. Registry Clerk (Ref No: DHET04/12/2024)

    • Salary: R216,417 per annum
    • Location: Head Office, Pretoria (3 Posts)
    • Requirements:
      • National Senior Certificate (NCV Level 4).
      • Minimum one year of experience in registry or administrative support.
      • Proficiency in filing systems and MS Office.
    • Key Duties:
      • Develop and maintain filing systems for the registry.
      • Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence and documents.
      • Ensure compliance with National Archives Act and related policies.
      • Manage archiving, disposal, and retrieval of documents.

    5. Driver/Messenger (Ref No: DHET05/12/2024)

    • Salary: R183,279 per annum
    • Location: Head Office, Pretoria (3 Posts)
    • Requirements:
      • National Senior Certificate (NCV Level 4).
      • Valid driver’s license.
      • 7–12 months of driving and messenger experience.
    • Key Duties:
      • Deliver documents and transport passengers.
      • Maintain vehicles and ensure roadworthiness.
      • Collect and deliver mail and confidential documents.
      • Maintain accurate logbooks and vehicle reports.

    6. Food Aid Services (Ref No: DHET06/12/2024)

    • Salary: R131,265 per annum
    • Location: Head Office, Pretoria (3 Posts)
    • Requirements:
      • ABET Level 2 certificate.
      • At least three months of experience in catering or food aid services.
      • Knowledge of hygiene and safety principles.
    • Key Duties:
      • Prepare and serve food, snacks, and beverages.
      • Clean kitchen utensils and maintain stock of supplies.
      • Apply hygiene standards and manage garbage disposal.

    Application Process

    1. Online Application:
      Access the New Z83 form via the DHET website (Click here to apply) and follow the prompts.
    2. Supporting Documents:
      • Comprehensive CV.
      • Certified copies of qualifications, ID, and driver’s license (if applicable).
      • Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by SAQA.
    3. Application Deadline:
      Submit your application before 23 December 2024. Late submissions will not be considered.
    4. Shortlisting:
      Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. If you do not receive feedback within three months of the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.
