Director-General Position at the Department of Human Settlements

Salary: R2 158 533 per annum (Level 16), All-inclusive salary package, and 10% non-pensionable HoD Allowance

Requirements:
- Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent
- Undergraduate qualification in Public Administration/Management/Business Management/Human Settlements or any relevant qualification (NQF level 7) recognised by SAQA.
- Relevant post-graduate qualification (NQF level 8) recognised by SAQA
- 8-10 years of relevant experience at senior management level, with at least 3 years within an organ of state as defined in the Constitution
- Knowledge and understanding of housing and the human settlements sector, including policy, legislative, regulatory compliance, and governance
- Competent financial, human resource, and administrative experience
- Ability to manage operations in line with the Department’s mandate
- Strategic capabilities and leadership qualities
- Proficiency in developing and implementing strategies
- Knowledge and experience in Financial Prescripts and Practices
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Focus on service delivery innovation
- Completion of the Nyukela 60 Programme: Pre-entry Certificate to Senior Management Services as endorsed by DPSA (available on the NSG website)
Duties:
- Overseeing research, policy development, strategy formulation, and planning in the Human Settlements Sector.
- Managing the upgrading of Informal Settlements and the provision of Emergency Housing.
- Supervising the delivery of Affordable Rental and Social Housing.
- Oversight of departmental entities, Intergovernmental Relations, and monitoring and evaluation of human settlement programmes and projects.
- Managing the provision of corporate support services.
- Overseeing the department’s finances and grants allocated for human settlement programmes.
- Providing executive support services.
- Managing risk and integrity management services.
- Overseeing internal audit services.
