    Are you seeking a managerial role that combines public administration with a deep commitment to social housing and human settlement policies? The Department of Human Settlements in Pretoria is looking for two Deputy Directors to lead the Title Deeds Restoration Project.


    This vital role not only supports the government’s efforts in housing but also ensures the restoration of title deeds to rightful owners, a cornerstone for achieving housing stability and financial security for many.

    Department of Human Settlements Vacancy Overview:

    • Job Title: Deputy Director: National Co-Ordinator – Tittle Deeds Restoration Project
    • Reference Number: DOHS/01/2024
    • Salary: R811 560 per annum (Level 11), (all-inclusive salary package)
    • Location: Pretoria
    • Closing Date: 06 May 2024 at 16h00

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 or equivalent, an undergraduate Diploma/ Degree in Public Administration or any other relevant qualification in the built environment (NQF 6/7 as recognised by SAQA).
    • A minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant experience at an entry level management (Assistant Director Level or equivalent).
    • Valid driver’s license.

     Skills 

    To excel in the role of Deputy Director: National Coordinator – Title Deeds Restoration Project, candidates need to possess a robust set of skills that cater to the demands of this challenging position:

    • Computer Literacy: Applicants should be adept at utilizing digital technologies. This includes proficiency with operating systems, various software applications, internet browsers, and the basics of computing, ensuring efficient handling of daily tasks and project management.
    • Independent Operation: Candidates must demonstrate the ability to function effectively without constant supervision. This trait reflects strong self-reliance, resourcefulness, and a commitment to handling responsibilities independently, ensuring the smooth progression of projects.
    • Ability to Work Under Pressure: This role requires maintaining composure and focus in stressful situations. Candidates should be skilled at prioritizing tasks and finding solutions promptly to manage deadlines and urgent issues without compromising quality.
    • English Communication Skills: Exceptional command of English, both in writing and verbally, is crucial. Clear articulation of ideas and effective engagement with different stakeholders are essential for successful communication and project advocacy.
    • Analytical Skills: The ability to dissect complex issues or data, understand their components, and synthesize this information to form actionable insights is vital. This skill is necessary for strategic decision-making and effective project management.
    • Planning Skills: Prospective candidates must exhibit strong planning capabilities, including the foresight to anticipate future needs, establish clear goals, and develop strategic approaches to achieving these objectives efficiently.
    • Organizational Skills: Effective time management and the ability to organize tasks and resources efficiently are critical. This involves setting priorities, meeting deadlines, maintaining order, and delegating responsibilities appropriately to ensure operational efficiency.
    • Administrative Skills: A comprehensive understanding of office management practices is required, including record-keeping, scheduling, data entry, and general organization. These skills support the effective administration of projects and contribute to the smooth operation of departmental activities.
    • Extensive Knowledge of Human Settlement Policies and the Title Restoration Project: Deep familiarity with the policies, decision structures, and broader departmental activities impacting the Title Restoration Project is necessary. This includes understanding the administrative procedures related to finance (PFMA), human resources, procurement, and planning within the Department of Human Settlements.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following functions:

    • The planning and coordination of the Title Restoration Project including advisory service on procedural/technical and policy matters.
    • Render project administrative services/support to the National Project Manager.
    • Provide secretarial and liaison services on the Title Restoration Project.
    • Provide coordinated integration and dissemination of information to the National Project Manager and provincial project managers.
    • Coordinate quarterly National Steering Committees meetings.
    • Design reporting templates.
    • Assess Annual Provincial Business Plans.
    • Oversee validation of quarterly performance reports.
    • Facilitate intergovernmental discussions affecting the project.

    • Closing Date: Applications must be submitted by 16h00 on 06 May 2024.
    • Required Forms: Applications must be submitted on a new Z83 form accompanied by a detailed CV only.
    • Further Documentation: Shortlisted candidates will need to submit certified documents on or before the day of the interview as directed by the Human Resources representative.
