    The Department of Public Enterprises is excited to announce two available positions for Driver/Messenger roles. These openings provide a valuable opportunity for qualified candidates to join the department and contribute to its operations through essential driving and messenger services.     Department of Public Enterprises – Driver/Messenger Roles Overview

    • Salary: R155,148 per annum (Level 3).
    • Centre: Pretoria.
    • Reference Number: DPE/2024/026.
    • Closing Date: 05 July 2024.

    Requirements

    • Grade 10 Certificate.
    • Valid driver’s license.

    Duties

    • Transport Duties: Efficiently transport documents, parcels, and personnel as needed, ensuring timely and safe delivery.
    • Vehicle Maintenance: Regularly check and maintain the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition. This includes monitoring fuel levels, checking tire pressure, and ensuring the vehicle is clean and presentable.
    • Route Planning: Plan and choose the most efficient routes to avoid delays and ensure timely deliveries.
    • Document Delivery: Deliver important documents to various government offices, stakeholders, and other relevant parties promptly.
    • Package Delivery: Ensure packages are delivered securely and in good condition. Handle any special instructions for fragile or sensitive items.
    • Errand Services: Perform various errands for the department, including picking up supplies and making deliveries to other departments.
    • Special Tasks: Execute specific tasks as directed by the Minister, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism.
    • Ministerial Transport: Provide transport services for the Minister as required, ensuring safety and punctuality.
    • Urgent Requests: Handle urgent requests and assignments for the Minister, demonstrating flexibility and reliability.
    • Confidentiality: Maintain the confidentiality of all assignments, especially those involving sensitive or classified information.
    • Secure Handling: Ensure that all documents and parcels are securely handled and not accessible to unauthorized persons.
    • Discretion: Exercise discretion in all communications and transactions related to the department’s operations.

    Application process:

    • Applications: Submit applications to the Department of Public Enterprises, either by post to Private Bag X15, Hatfield, 0028, or hand deliver to 80 Hamilton Street, Arcadia, Pretoria 0008

    Note:

    • Applications must be on form Z83 and include copies of qualifications, identity document, driver’s license (where applicable), and any other relevant documents.
    • Copies need not be certified when initially applying.
    • Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified documents on or before the interview day, following communication from HR.
    • Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA).
    • Correspondence will only be with shortlisted candidates.
    • If no contact is made within 3 months after the closing date, consider the application unsuccessful.
    • Shortlisted candidates undergo screening and security vetting.
    • Failure to submit requested documents will result in application disqualification.
    • For SMS posts, candidates will undergo technical exercises and competency assessments.
    • Submission of an SMS pre-entry certificate is required before appointment.
    • The department reserves the right not to fill positions.
