    The Gauteng Partnership Fund (GPF) is excited to announce the opening of Finance Internships for the 2024/2025 period. This initiative provides aspiring finance professionals with a valuable chance to acquire hands-on experience in a dynamic and nurturing environment. The internships are tailored for individuals who are enthusiastic about enhancing their financial skills and making meaningful contributions to GPF’s impactful projects.

    Gauteng Partnership Fund Finance Internships Overview:

    • Closing Date: 16 August 2024
    • Work Level: Student/Graduate
    • Job Type: Contract
    • Salary: Market Related
    • Duration: 9 – 12 Months
    • Location: Johannesburg North
    • EE Position: No

    Job Purpose:

    • Objective: The Finance Intern will support the Gauteng Partnership Fund (GPF) Finance Team with various general finance tasks.
    • Exposure: Interns will gain practical experience in day-to-day financial processes including Accounts Payable, Cashbook Reconciliation, and departmental administration.
    • Experience Requirement: No prior relevant work experience is needed.

    About the Gauteng Partnership Fund

    The Gauteng Partnership Fund is a pivotal institution in South Africa’s efforts to promote social and economic development, particularly within the housing sector. Established by the Gauteng Department of Human Settlements, the GPF plays a crucial role in enabling the creation of affordable housing and sustainable communities in the Gauteng province. Over the years, GPF has become a key player in facilitating partnerships between the public and private sectors to address the housing needs of South Africa’s growing population.

    Requirements:

    • Inherent Requirements:
      • Technical Competencies: High attention to detail, proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel, logical problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills.
      • Leadership Competencies: Ability to work under pressure, manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, and adhere to deadlines.
      • Generic Competencies: Strong interpersonal skills, team collaboration, and eagerness to learn.
    • Appointment Requirements:
      • Educational Qualification: BCom or National Diploma in Accounting or Finance (NQF Level 6 or 7).
      • Experience: No prior experience required; in-service training experience will be considered.

    Key Performance Areas:

    1. Accounts Payable:
      • Assist in capturing transactions in the accounting system.
      • Ensure accurate and timely recording of cash claim expenditures.
      • Help prepare and process payments through the banking system.
    2. Cash Books:
      • Assist with processing entries on bank accounts, such as payment runs, bank charges, and interest.
      • Contribute to the preparation of bank reconciliations.
      • Upload bank statements for all accounts onto the Intranet.
    3. Petty Cash Claims:
      • Accurately and timely capture petty cash expenditures.
      • Participate in investigating outstanding claims and processing new petty cash applications.
    4. Economic Development & BEE Reporting:
      • Assist in preparing quarterly Economic Development (ED) reports and compiling data.
      • Help prepare data and select samples for BEE audits.
    5. Teamwork:
      • Collaborate effectively with team members.
      • Be proactive in assisting others.
      • Contribute to business unit meetings and brainstorming sessions.
      • Mentor and support fellow interns and peers.
    6. Ad Hoc Duties:
      • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Line Manager.
      • Complete assignments from the CEO and CFO as needed.
