    How to Properly Fill the SAPS Preliminary Trainee Application Form (2024/2025 Intake) for 10,000 Trainee Positions

    The South African Police Service (SAPS) is on a recruitment drive to bring in 10,000 trainees for the 2024/2025 intake. As part of the application process, potential candidates must accurately complete the SAPS Job Application Form. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to how to properly fill the SAPS job application form:


    1. Start with the Basics

    • Province & Nearest Police Station: Fill in the details of your province and the police station closest to your residence.

    2. Personal Information

    • PERSAL/Force Number: Only fill this in if you’re currently serving in SAPS, SANDF, or another Public Service Department.
    • Surname, First Names: Clearly write your full name. Ensure it matches the name on your ID.
    • Identity Number: Fill in your South African ID number.
    • Age: Mention your current age.
    • Contact Information: Provide your cellphone number and email address.
    • Race & Gender: Tick the box that corresponds to your racial background and gender.
    • Physical Address: Write your full residential address.

    3. Driving License Details

    • If you possess a driver’s license, tick ‘YES’ and mention the code (e.g., Code 10) and its expiry date. If not, tick ‘NO’.

    4. Qualifications

    • If you have a Senior Certificate/Grade 12 or National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4, tick ‘YES’. Indicate your aggregate/symbol in English for the Senior Certificate.
    • For post-school qualifications (NQF 6 Diploma/Degree), tick ‘YES’ if you have one and specify the details.

    5. General Questions

    • Citizenship: Confirm if you’re a South African citizen.
    • Physical Disability: Disclose any physical disabilities and specify the type if applicable.
    • Fitness: Indicate your mental, medical, and physical fitness.
    • Criminal Record: Mention any criminal or departmental offences, both past and pending.
    • Tattoos: Disclose the presence of tattoos and specify their locations on your body.
    • Previous Public Service Employment: Indicate if you’ve worked in the public service before and specify details, including reasons for termination.
    • Outside Business Interests: Declare any business interests that might conflict with SAPS duties.
    • Business with the State: Disclose any business dealings with the state.
    • Directorship: Indicate if you are a director of any company.

    6. Declaration and Consent

    Read through the declaration thoroughly. By signing, you acknowledge that selection isn’t guaranteed and that you grant permission for reference checks, security screening, and potential medical examination disclosure.

    7. Attachments

    Ensure you attach UNCERTIFIED copies of the necessary documents:

    • Identity Document
    • Driver’s license (if applicable)
    • Senior Certificate/National Senior Certificate/National Certificate (Vocational)
    • Post-school qualification with academic records (Diploma/Degree)
    • Proof of Residence
    • Testimonial letter (School/Church/Traditional Leaders)
    • Service Certificates of previous employers (if applicable)

    8. Review & Submit

    Once all fields are completed, review your application for accuracy. Sign and date the form at the end.

    Ensure you follow SAPS submission guidelines, all completeted application forms and supporting documents are to be submitted at your nearest SAPS station.  

    The official application form for SAPS Jobs are available free of charge from any Police Station, SAPS Recruitment office, or the SAPS Website.
