    Tips for Successful Application

Applying for a government position like the HR Clerk at the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure requires attention to detail and adherence to the application guidelines. Here are some tips to ensure your application stands out:

    1. Complete the Z83 Form Accurately: Ensure that all sections of the Z83 form are fully completed. Incomplete forms are one of the common reasons for disqualification.
    2. Detailed CV: Your Curriculum Vitae should be detailed and up-to-date. Include all relevant work experience, skills, and qualifications that align with the HR Clerk role.
    3. Document Certification: Certified copies of your qualifications and other relevant documents must be provided if you are shortlisted. Ensure these copies are recent and clearly show the certification stamp.
    4. E-recruitment System: If you choose to apply via the e-recruitment system, double-check that all information is correctly entered and that your documents are uploaded properly. The system is user-friendly but requires careful input to avoid errors.
    5. Prepare for Interviews: If shortlisted, prepare thoroughly for your interview. Familiarize yourself with common HR procedures, the specific duties of the HR Clerk role, and the Department’s functions and goals.
    6. Follow Up: Keep track of your application status. If you have not heard back within six months, it is likely that your application was unsuccessful, but it’s always good to check for any updates.

    Additional information:

    • Document Submission Requirements:
      • Submit a fully completed and signed Z83 form along with a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) on application.
      • Applicants using the e-recruitment system do not need to sign the Z83 initially; signing will be required on the interview day.
      • Shortlisted candidates must provide certified copies of qualifications and relevant documents to HR before the interview.
      • Candidates with foreign qualifications must submit an evaluation certificate from SAQA by the interview day.
      • Failure to submit all required documents will lead to disqualification.
    • Correspondence:
      • Communication will only be with shortlisted candidates.
      • Unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted within six (6) months after the closing date.
    • Personnel Suitability Checks:
      • Shortlisted candidates undergo checks including criminal record, citizenship, financial/asset, qualification/study, and previous employment verification.
      • Successful candidates undergo security clearance and, where applicable, skills/knowledge tests.
    • Probation Period:
      • Appointed candidates will undergo a probation period of twelve (12) months.
    • Employment Equity and Affirmative Action:
      • The department aims to achieve Employment Equity targets, emphasizing gender equity and disability inclusion in appointments.
    • Post Amendments:
      • The Department reserves the right to amend, review, or withdraw advertised posts in the best interest of the department.
    • Senior Management Service (SMS) Posts:
      • SMS applicants must obtain a pre-entry Certificate (Nyukela) from the National School of Government (NSG) before appointment.
      • The SMS pre-entry certificate is not required for shortlisting but must be submitted prior to appointment.
