Requirements
To qualify for the Karoo Hoogland Municipality finance internships, candidates are required to meet the following criteria:
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of a three-year Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma.
- Majors in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Risk Management, and/or Auditing.
- Age Requirement: Candidates must be between 21 and 35 years old.
- Alternative Qualification: Individuals with a N6 Certificate in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Risk Management, and/or Auditing, who are yet to complete their Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Program, are also encouraged to apply.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a finance intern at the Karoo Hoogland Municipality, you will have the opportunity to engage in various tasks and responsibilities that will provide a comprehensive understanding of municipal finance management.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting in the preparation and monitoring of the municipal budget: Work closely with senior finance staff to prepare annual budgets, review budget proposals, and monitor spending to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Financial forecasting and analysis: Conduct financial forecasts and analyses to predict future financial trends and assist in long-term financial planning.
- Preparing financial reports and statements: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with municipal regulations.
- Audit preparation and support: Help prepare for internal and external audits by organizing financial documents and providing necessary information to auditors.
- Assisting with revenue collection and management: Support the revenue department in tracking and managing municipal income from various sources, including taxes, fees, and grants.
