    Labour Relations Officer Job Purpose

    The Labour Relations Officer is tasked with handling all employee relations matters related to misconduct, grievances, and disputes. You will investigate cases, draft relevant submissions, and represent the employer in various forums such as disciplinary hearings or dispute resolution proceedings. The role also involves providing support and expert advice on employee relations issues to ensure compliance with regulations and promote a harmonious working environment.

    Minimum Requirements

    To qualify for this position, you will need:

    • Educational Qualification: A 3-year National Diploma or B-Degree in Labour Relations, Human Resource Management, or Law.
    • Experience: A minimum of 1-year relevant experience in labour relations or human resources.
    • Driver’s Licence: A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence. However, candidates with disabilities that prevent them from driving but who have access to reliable transport are encouraged to apply.

    Competencies Required

    For this role, the successful candidate should possess:

    • Knowledge of Labour Relations Law and Regulations: A strong understanding of the Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, and the Labour Relations Act, as well as national and provincial resolutions related to human resource management.
    • Computer Literacy: Proficiency in MS Office and other digital tools to manage documentation and reports effectively.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities are essential for drafting reports, communicating with employees, and representing the government in hearings.
    • Planning and Organising: The ability to manage multiple cases, prioritize tasks, and ensure that deadlines are met.
    • Conflict Resolution: You must be adept at managing disputes and resolving conflicts in a fair and impartial manner.
    • Teamwork: While you should be able to work independently, collaboration with colleagues across the government is essential for the role.

    Remuneration and Benefits

    • Salary: R376 413 per annum (Salary Level 8).
