Purpose of the Medical Officer
The primary objective of the Medical Officer position is to provide high-quality clinical care to volunteers participating in research studies and to assist in the initiation of new clinical trials.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: MBChB with active HPCSA registration as an Independent Practitioner
- Experience:
- At least 2 years as a medical officer, post-community service
- At least 1-year experience in clinical trials as a sub-investigator
- Skills:
- Proficiency in computer skills (Email, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong administrative capabilities
- Exceptional interpersonal relationship-building skills
- Strong client focus and work ethic
- Detail-oriented with the ability to complete study documentation legibly and accurately
- Supportive of research involving LGBTQI+ participants and other key populations
- Willingness to work flexible hours if required
Advantageous Qualifications
- Valid Code 08 Driver’s License
- Valid Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
- Valid Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certificate
- Experience as a principal investigator on a clinical trial
- Interest in promoting LGBTQI+ Health Research
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting clinical procedures
- Performing protocol-specific procedures
- Managing study administration tasks
Remuneration
The successful candidate will receive remuneration according to the adaptive OSD scales, in line with the Medical Officer, Grade 1.
