Job Responsibilities
As the Occupational Program Chef Facilitator, you will be responsible for a variety of duties that are key to the successful delivery of the program. These include:
- Facilitating Learning: You will engage students in the learning process, assessing and recording their progress throughout the course.
- Managing the Learning Program: You’ll be responsible for managing the entire learning program, which includes invigilating internal and external exams, marking student assessments, and ensuring that all necessary activities are completed.
- Workplace and Simulated Learning: You will organize and conduct workplace or simulated experiential learning for students, allowing them to gain practical experience.
- Student Support: You will assist with student registration, performance tracking, and help students during practical assessments. You will also be expected to attend to other administrative duties.
- College Events: Your role will also involve assisting with college events and catering activities, making sure that students gain practical experience in the field.
Requirements
To be considered for this exciting position, you need to meet the following requirements:
- Educational Requirements: You must hold a National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification.
- Professional Qualifications: The ideal candidate must be registered as an assessor with Cathsseta or QCTO. You will also need to have a Diploma in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or a related field. A Trade Test Certificate would be an added advantage.
- Experience: A minimum of two years of work experience in the hospitality industry as a Chef is required. This experience should demonstrate your proficiency in culinary arts and your ability to manage and facilitate learning.
- Skills: The candidate must have excellent presentation and communication skills. Being able to effectively use technology in teaching is essential. A valid driver’s license is also required.
- Additional Qualifications: You should be able to teach the following skills or occupational programs:
- Chef NQF Level 5
- Cook NQF Level 4
- Food Handler NQF Level 2
- Kitchen Hand NQF Level 2
