    Are you ready to take the next step in your career? The South African Police Service (SAPS) is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Parliamentary and Cabinet Support Officer in the Office of the Ministry of Police in Pretoria.


    This is your chance to contribute to the effective functioning of the executive authority’s portfolio and support critical processes that impact South Africa’s governance.

    Parliamentary and Cabinet Support Officer Position Details

    • Position Title: Parliamentary and Cabinet Support Officer
    • Reference Number: MIN 01/10/2024
    • Location: SAPS Ministry of Police, Pretoria
    • Salary: R849 702 per annum (Level 11, all-inclusive package)
    • Closing Date for Applications: 2 December 2024, at 16:00

    Minimum Requirements

    To qualify for this role, applicants must meet the following requirements:

    1. Educational Qualifications:
      • A National Diploma in Politics, Administration, Management, or an equivalent qualification accredited by SAQA (NQF Level 6).
      • Relevant courses or training in the field of the post will be an advantage.
    2. Experience:
      • At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
    3. Licensing and Vetting:
      • Must possess a valid light motor vehicle driver’s license.
      • Must not have a criminal record or pending cases. Candidates will undergo a thorough vetting process, including security screening and fingerprint verification.
    4. Key Competencies:
      • Knowledge of the Ministry’s operations and parliamentary/political processes in South Africa.
      • Understanding of public service policies and prescripts, particularly within the policing sector.
      • Management, planning, leading, and organizing skills.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
      • Proficiency in at least two official languages (one must be English).
      • Computer literacy and problem-solving capabilities.

    Key Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will perform the following duties:

    • Provide Support:
      • Assist the executive authority on matters related to their portfolio.
      • Coordinate activities between Pretoria and Cape Town offices during Parliamentary sessions.
    • Monitor Parliamentary Events:
      • Track developments in Parliamentary, Legislature, and Cabinet/Executive Council sessions.
      • Identify issues that could impact the executive authority’s portfolio.
    • Portfolio Oversight:
      • Ensure the executive authority’s portfolio is adequately supported.
    • Liaise with Stakeholders:
      • Maintain strong working relationships with key personnel to enhance the effectiveness of the Ministry’s operations.

    2. Note: Certified copies of qualifications, driver’s licenses, and identity documents are not required at this stage. Only shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide certified copies during the interview process.
    3. Application Submission Methods:
      • By Hand: Deliver the application to SAPS Head Office, Wachthuis Building, Thibault Arcade, 225 Pretorius Street, Pretoria, between 07:30 and 16:00. Applications should be deposited into the designated box at reception.
      • By Post: Send to The Section Commander: SMS Appointment Administration, South African Police Service, Private Bag X986, Pretoria, 0001. Ensure that the application reaches the office before the closing date.
      • By Email: Send to SeniorAppointmentsHQ5@saps.gov.za or Senappoint@saps.gov.za. Include only the application form and CV.
    4. Important Notes:
      • Late applications will not be accepted.
      • If no correspondence is received within 3 months after the closing date, consider the application unsuccessful.
