    To assist the Director of Transport Administration and Licencing, the Western Cape Mobility Department is accepting applicants for the role of Personal Assistant. The ideal candidate for this permanent role in the Cape Town CBD would be someone who is qualified and capable of handling secretarial and administrative support duties. This position is ideal for you if you can work well under pressure, handle inconsistent hours, and meet deadlines.

    Personal Assistant Job Purpose

    The Western Cape Mobility Department seeks a suitably qualified and competent individual to provide secretarial support to the Director: Transport Administration and Licensing. The successful candidate must be capable of working under pressure, willing to work irregular hours, and able to meet tight deadlines.

    Minimum Requirements

    Key Requirements:

    To qualify for the Personal Assistant position, applicants must meet the following requirements: 

    • Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification)
    • Accredited secretarial diploma and/or administrative qualification at NQF level 5 or higher tertiary qualification
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in providing support services to management or senior management

    Competencies:

    • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, prescripts, and procedures
    • Office administration, database management, and information and records management
    • Procurement processes and basic financial administration
    • Understanding of government functioning, systems, and processes
    • Proficiency in general information support systems such as BAS and MYTRACK

    Skills:

    • Language and computer literacy
    • Sound organizational skills
    • Good interpersonal and written communication skills
    • Client liaison and networking abilities
    • Report writing, research, and problem-solving skills
    • Good telephone etiquette and high reliability
    • Ability to communicate with people at different levels and from diverse backgrounds
    • Tact and discretion in handling sensitive information
    • Good grooming and presentation
    • Self-management and motivation

    Key Performance Areas

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide secretarial/receptionist support to the Director
    • Render administrative support services
    • Assist the Director with meeting arrangements and preparations
    • Support the administration of the Director’s budget
    • Study and apply relevant public service and departmental prescripts/policies

    Remuneration

    • Salary: R 308 154 per annum (Salary level 7)
    • Service Benefits: Qualifying employees may receive medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc., as per applicable prescripts or collective agreements.

    • Verification and Vetting: Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and undergo criminal record vetting.
