    The Robben Island Museum (RIM) is offering a variety of job opportunities for motivated and skilled professionals. Below are the detailed descriptions of the vacancies at RIM, including the requirements, duties, and application process.


    List of Robben Island Museum Vacancies

    1. Supply Chain Management Administrator

    • Job Grade: 12
    • Salary: R185,451.85 – R259,668.26 per annum
    • Contract: 12 Months

    Purpose:

    The Supply Chain Management (SCM) Administrator will be responsible for overseeing the acquisition of goods and services at the Robben Island Museum and managing various supply chain procedures.

    Key Duties:

    • Sourcing quotations and assessing information from suppliers.
    • Managing the supplier database and requisitions.
    • Following up on outstanding orders.
    • Maintaining accurate records.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • National Diploma in Finance, Business Management, Supply Chain, or Logistics Management (NQF Level 6).
    • At least 2 years of experience in Supply Chain Management or a Finance environment.
    • Strong administrative, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

    2. Librarian

    • Job Grade: 10
    • Salary: R267,607.28 – R374,650.19 per annum
    • Contract: 12 Months

    Purpose:

    The Librarian will manage the Resource Centre at Robben Island, ensuring it meets the needs of RIM staff, students, and residents.

    Key Duties:

    • Conduct research on new archival materials.
    • Manage the cataloguing system and update it regularly.
    • Develop a resource database and monitor environmental conditions for book conservation.
    • Assist students with software use and ensure adherence to library rules.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Library Management (NQF Level 7).
    • 2 years of relevant experience in a Heritage or Museum Library.
    • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
    • Knowledge of MS Office and library databases.
    • A postgraduate diploma in Library Management would be advantageous.

    3. Specialised Tour Guiding Officer (4 Positions)

    • Job Grade: 10
    • Salary: R267,607.28 – R374,650.19 per annum
    • Contract: 12 Months

    Purpose:

    The Specialised Tour Guiding Officer will narrate and monitor the stories of Robben Island’s history, particularly regarding the political imprisonment narrative, and assist in training new tour guides.

    Key Duties:

    • Conduct VIP prison tours and present political history to various groups.
    • Provide orientation for new tour guides and ensure consistency in narrative delivery.
    • Conduct site-specific tours and assist researchers and visiting scholars.
    • Participate in oral history workshops for narrative development.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Experience of incarceration at Robben Island.
    • Fluency in English and at least one other official South African language.
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
    • Ability to identify issues and develop new ideas for improvement.

    4. Human Resource Practitioner

    • Job Grade: 12

    Purpose:

    The HR Practitioner will implement Human Resource Development services in alignment with legislation, policies, and frameworks. The role involves using HR analytics to support decision-making processes.

    Key Duties:

    • Generate HR reports and monitor key performance indicators.
    • Implement training and development programmes, including bursaries.
    • Coordinate the Work Skills Plan, internships, and learnerships.
    • Assist in recruitment, employee benefits administration, and performance management.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • National Diploma in Human Resources Management (NQF Level 6).
    • 2 years of relevant experience in HR Management.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and computer literacy skills.
