    Thulamela Municipality Job Vacancies

    1. Law Enforcement Officer (Community Services Department)

    • Position: Law Enforcement Officer
    • Number of Posts: 02
    • Post Level: 09
    • Annual Salary: R296,788.68

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 certificate.
    • Traffic Diploma from a recognized government institution.
    • Municipal or Metro Police Law Enforcement Certificate or Diploma.
    • Registered as a traffic officer with the Department of Transport.
    • Eligible to be registered as a peace officer.
    • Valid driver’s license (Code 10 or 8).
    • Two years of relevant experience in law enforcement.
    • Excellent human relations and communication skills.

    Responsibilities:

    • Issue notices for by-law contraventions to ensure compliance with local laws.
    • Enforce municipal by-laws related to illegal squatting, public nuisances, informal trading, and advertising.
    • Ensure compliance with regulations governing business operations in public spaces.
    • Assist the municipality in curbing corruption.

    This role is perfect for individuals with a background in traffic and law enforcement who are passionate about maintaining law and order in the community.

    2. Security Guards (Office of the Municipal Manager)

    • Position: Security Guard
    • Number of Posts: 06
    • Post Level: 13
    • Annual Salary: R194,346.36

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 certificate.
    • Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) registration (Grade E-C).
    • Security training certificate.
    • Valid firearm competency certificate.
    • At least one year of experience as a security guard.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
    • Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends and public holidays.
    • Knowledge of municipal policies and procedures.

    Responsibilities:

    • Perform security duties at municipal facilities and entrances.
    • Control access by conducting regular checks at entry and exit points.
    • Maintain security registers and log incidents in reports.
    • Patrol and protect municipal properties, ensuring that doors are locked and vehicles are in good condition.
    • Monitor and report any security incidents to supervisors.

    This position is ideal for individuals who have a passion for safety and security, ensuring the well-being of both municipal employees and assets.

    3. Secretary (Planning & Development Department)

    • Position: Secretary
    • Number of Posts: 01
    • Post Level: 06
    • Annual Salary: R471,836.88

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 certificate.
    • Diploma in Secretarial Studies or Public Management.
    • Experience in secretarial duties.
    • Ability to work under pressure.
    • Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide secretarial and administrative support to the Head of Department (Planning & Development).
    • Manage the department head’s diary and assist with office-related tasks.
    • Execute any duties delegated by the Planning & Development Senior Manager.

    This role is suitable for candidates with secretarial expertise and the ability to manage administrative tasks efficiently.

    4. General Assistant (Technical Services Department: Gravel Roads Division)

    • Position: General Assistant
    • Number of Posts: 03
    • Post Level: 15
    • Annual Salary: R172,660.92

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 certificate.
    • N3 in Civil Engineering.
    • At least one year of experience in road maintenance.

    Responsibilities:

    • Perform general duties related to civil engineering works.
    • Assist handymen and artisans with tasks.
    • Load and unload materials at designated work sites.
    • Clean and maintain tools after use.

    This position is perfect for those with a background in civil engineering and road maintenance, seeking hands-on experience in the field.
