    Do you have a background in Human Resources, specifically in training and development? If so, Legal Aid SA has an exciting opportunity for you to contribute to a key organization within South Africa’s legal sector. Legal Aid SA, a National Public Entity, is inviting applications for the Training and Development Officer position in their Human Resources department, located at the National Office in Braamfontein.     Training and Development Officer Overview

    • Position: Training and Development Officer
    • Reference Number: NO/HR/TDO/11/04/2025
    • Location: National Office, Braamfontein, South Africa
    • Employment Type: Permanent
    • Salary: R 255,450.00 per annum (Level 6) + Benefits

    Key Responsibilities

    As the Training and Development Officer, you will be responsible for coordinating and supporting various training and development initiatives, ensuring that Legal Aid SA’s employees continue to build their skills and reach their full potential. Your key duties will include:

    1. Coordinating Education, Training, and Development Initiatives:
      • Assist in the planning, development, and coordination of employee training and development programs.
      • Support the implementation of skills audits and needs analyses to identify areas where employee skills can be enhanced.
    2. Personal Development Plans (PDPs):
      • Facilitate the creation and implementation of Personal Development Plans (PDPs) to ensure employees have the tools and resources to achieve their career goals.
    3. Training Administration:
      • Manage and oversee all aspects of training administration, including maintaining records and tracking the progress of training programs.
    4. Bursaries, Learnerships, and Internships:
      • Coordinate the bursary program and oversee learnerships and internship opportunities.
      • Ensure smooth recruitment, placement, and monitoring of interns and learners, fostering career development opportunities for young talent.
    5. Report Preparation and Evaluation:
      • Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports on training progress and outcomes.
    6. Resource Management:
      • Ensure the efficient use of resources to maintain optimal productivity and workflow within the department.
    7. Legislative and Policy Knowledge:
      • Maintain a strong understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures that govern training and development in South Africa.

    Key Competencies:

    To excel in this role, you must possess the following skills, knowledge, and attributes:

    1. Educational Qualifications:
      • A National Diploma/Degree in Human Resources (NQF Level 6) with a specialization in Training and Development.
    2. Experience:
      • A minimum of two years of working experience in a training and development environment is essential.
      • Experience in facilitating and coordinating training programs, managing bursaries, and overseeing internships and learnerships.
    3. Certification:
      • Skill Development Facilitator Certification is a mandatory requirement for this role.
    4. Soft Skills:
      • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
      • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
      • A focus on service excellence and the ability to build relationships across different organizational levels.
    5. Technical Skills:
      • Proficiency in training and development management systems and human resources management principles.
      • Familiarity with Human Resources Management Systems (HRMS).
    6. Additional Attributes:
      • Client service orientation and a proactive approach to solving challenges.
      • Ability to manage complex tasks and multi-level coordination effectively.

    Salary and Benefits:

    The successful candidate will be appointed at Level 6, with an annual salary of R 255,450.00 plus benefits. This position provides a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for growth within an established and well-regarded institution.
