    Invigilators Position for External Examinations Overview

    • Position: Invigilators (Temporary)
    • Rate: R 255.30 per session
    • Reference Numbers:
      • Carletonville Campus: CV/INV/01
      • Krugersdorp Central Campus: KRD/INV/02
      • Krugersdorp West Campus: KRDW/INV/03
      • Randfontein Campus: RFT/INV/04

    Western TVET College is dedicated to providing educational services and ensuring that the examination process is conducted with integrity and efficiency. Invigilators play a critical role in safeguarding the examination process by ensuring fairness and transparency in the administration of external exams.

    Minimum Requirements for Applicants

    To qualify for these positions, you need to meet the following minimum criteria:

    1. Educational Qualifications:
      • A Matric/Grade 12 Certificate is required.
      • N6 Certificate/National N Diploma in Business Studies or Engineering Studies, or any other relevant qualification, is also necessary.
    2. Preferred Applicants:
      • The college is open to considering unemployed and/or retired teachers or lecturers for these positions.
      • Preference will be given to graduates of Western TVET College.
    3. Physical Fitness:
      • You must be medically fit to stand and walk for the duration of the exam session.
    4. Trustworthiness:
      • All applicants must be trustworthy and will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement to protect the confidentiality of the examination process.
    5. Additional Requirements:
      • No candidate currently involved in an internship or learnership program will be considered for these posts.
      • You must have no criminal record.

    Key Responsibilities of the Role

    As an invigilator, your duties will be aligned with the National Examinations guidelines as stipulated in Government Gazette, Vol. 507, No. 30287 of 12 September 2007. Your core responsibilities include:

    • Managing the Examination Venue: You will be responsible for supervising the examination at the venue and ensuring that all regulations are adhered to.
    • Complete Availability: Invigilators are expected to be present for the entire duration of each examination session. Sessions may be scheduled from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays, with a typical session lasting about 5 hours.
    • Support and Administration:
      • Distribute examination materials to candidates.
      • Collect and ensure the safe return of all examination papers and materials.
      • Ensure that candidates adhere to all exam guidelines.
    • Professional Conduct: You will need to exhibit methodical and detail-oriented behavior, ensuring high accuracy in all tasks. Invigilators should also communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and work collaboratively with the college’s management and other team members.
    • Problem-Solving and Time Management: You will be expected to manage workloads efficiently, prioritize tasks, and maintain high performance even under pressure. Additionally, good time management skills are crucial, as is the ability to identify areas where administrative procedures can be improved.

      • A signed NEW Z83 form, which can be obtained from any public service department or from the DPSA website.
      • A comprehensive CV, which includes at least three contactable references. Ensure that you reference the relevant job vacancy number when applying.
    2. Submission Methods:
      • Applications can be hand-delivered or couriered to:
        • HR Manager, Western TVET College, Corporate Office, 42 Johnstone Street, Randfontein, 1760.
      Please note that no faxed or emailed applications will be accepted.
    3. Deadline:
      • The closing date for applications is Friday, 25 October 2024 at 12:00 PM. Ensure that your application reaches the college on or before this time.
    4. Shortlisting and Interviews:
      • Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and will be required to submit certified copies of original documents such as academic records and other relevant supporting documentation.
      • Shortlisted candidates will also undergo a vetting process, which includes a review of your criminal record, citizenship, qualifications, and prior employment history.
