    Mission: The Directorate of Corporate Services is dedicated to delivering high-quality support services that enable the City of Cape Town to function effectively and serve its residents efficiently.     Requirements

    To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

    • Educational Qualification: Minimum of a National Diploma in electrical engineering (light current), electronic engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
    • Experience:
      • 2 to 3 years’ experience in workshop repairs, maintenance, and programming of TETRA two-way radios (hand portables and mobile radios).
      • Experience in working at high sites and knowledge of TETRA technology and analogue repeater equipment is advantageous.
    • Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit to carry heavy equipment and willing to work on standby.
    • Height Work: Required to work at heights.
    • Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license code B is mandatory.

    Responsibilities

    As a Technician in the Telecommunications Network Services, your responsibilities will include:

    • Radio Repairs and Maintenance: Undertaking analogue and digital (TETRA) radio repairs, maintenance, and installation of related equipment.
    • Equipment Testing and Troubleshooting: Performing radio equipment testing, troubleshooting, and software programming.
    • Software Development: Creating software templates and configuration scripts for radio programming.
    • Client Support: Liaising with clients and attending to customer queries to provide technical solutions.
    • Training: Providing product training to end-users.
    • Project Management: Managing small to medium projects related to public safety systems, such as radio installations.
    • Asset Management: Implementing controls for the movement and transfer of assets.
