The department of Basic Education has extended the application period for phase II of the Employment Initiative to midnight, 10 October 2021. In addition to that, there is an alternative method that applicants can utilise to send through their applications.
From when the applications opened on the 27th of September, the SA Youth mobi-site experienced extremely high traffic volumes, causing the site to slow down and occasionally time out.
SA Youth added another web-based/electronic application form that is neither linked nor dependent on the SA Youth mobi-site in terms of connectivity or stability. You can access the form by visiting https://sayouth.me/DBE. The alternative method is however not zero-rated, it requires minimum data (3MB) to complete the application process. The link will direct you to the official form where you will be required to select the province you are in and further fill in your particulars. Before you click submit do make sure that the information you fill in is correct especially your contact details. You will have the option to select a school that is closest to you. The schools that will be on the list will only be the schools in your province.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, applications are strictly online, and no walk-ins or email applications will be accepted. The mobi-site (sayouth.mobi) is still available too. Applicants who need help to apply online can also visit their nearest NYDA office or community library that has connectivity.
This opportunity is suited for youth between the ages of 18 and 35, not in any education/training nor receiving nor receiving any form of a government grant, and people with disabilities are eligible and encouraged to apply to gain experience.
Remember, should your application be considered, you will be required to prepare the following documents:
- An updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Testimonials (former school, a local chief, church leader, etc.)
- Police clearance certificate
- Affidavit/Declaration by the applicant stating he/she has no criminal record while awaiting the police clearance
- Certified qualifications such as Matric (where applicable NQF Level 4 qualification certificate, for Education Assistant applicants NQF Level 6 and 7 qualifications will be an added advantage)
