    Northlink College is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Diesel Mechanic Facilitator position. This role is ideal for experienced professionals eager to contribute their expertise in diesel mechanics and educate the next generation of technicians.     Northlink College Diesel Mechanic Facilitator Overview:

    • Location: Bellville Campus
    • Contract Type: Fixed-Term (01 September 2024 – 31 December 2027)
    • Salary Range: R256,395 — R410,565 per annum (excluding benefits)
    • Closing Date: 13 August 2024, by 12:00

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Qualification: Certified Diesel Mechanic.
    • Educational Background: Minimum N3 Certificate.
    • Experience: 3-5 years of industry experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
    • Teaching Experience: Experience in teaching or training is advantageous.
    • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Diesel Mechanic programs and associated legislation (e.g., CBMT, Learnerships, Apprenticeships, ARPL, Accredited Skills Programmes).
    • Skills: Proficiency in computer use.
    • Additional Qualifications (Recommended): Qualified Assessor, Moderator, Valid Driver’s License, and registration with SACE.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Teaching:

    • Facilitate theoretical and practical diesel mechanics subjects.
    • Prepare lesson plans, deliver lectures, and conduct workshops.
    • Update curriculum to reflect technological advancements.
    • Engage students through interactive sessions and hands-on activities.

    Administration:

    • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and progress.
    • Prepare and manage course materials and examination papers.
    • Ensure compliance with institutional policies.
    • Participate in faculty meetings and strategic planning.

    Learning Environment:

    • Create and maintain a positive, inclusive learning atmosphere.
    • Equip and manage classrooms and workshops.
    • Implement effective classroom management strategies.
    • Encourage collaboration and mutual respect among students.

    Assessment:

    • Evaluate student performance through exams, tests, projects, and assignments.
    • Provide timely and constructive feedback.
    • Develop fair and consistent grading policies.
    • Track progress and support struggling students.

    Knowledge Transfer:

    • Share industry expertise and practical experience.
    • Mentor students and guide their academic and practical work.
    • Organize field trips, internships, and industry visits.
    • Stay updated on diesel technology advancements.

    Curriculum Development:

    • Collaborate on curriculum updates to meet industry standards.
    • Ensure course content is relevant and comprehensive.

    Professional Development:

    • Attend workshops, conferences, and training for continuous growth.
    • Stay informed on advancements in diesel mechanics and education.

    Student Support:

    • Provide academic and career counseling.
    • Assist students in setting and achieving career goals.

    Community Engagement:

    • Build partnerships with local community and industry stakeholders.
    • Participate in outreach activities to promote the college.

    Safety Compliance:

    • Adhere to and enforce safety regulations in teaching and workshops.
    • Conduct safety drills and training sessions.

    Resource Management:

    • Oversee workshop equipment and material maintenance.
    • Ensure efficient and effective use of resources.

    Research and Innovation:

    • Participate in research activities related to diesel mechanics and education.
    • Contribute to innovative teaching methods and technologies.
