    The University of South Africa (UNISA) is excited to announce new opportunities for dedicated individuals to join their team as Data Collectors. They are seeking motivated and detail-oriented candidates to support their research and data collection initiatives. In the role of Data Collector, individuals will play a crucial part in gathering accurate and reliable information, contributing to the advancement of academic research and institutional knowledge.

    Data Collector Vacancies Overview:

    • Position: Data Collector (P12)
    • Employer: University of South Africa
    • Contract Type: Full-time / Fixed Term (12 Months)
    • Locations: Johannesburg (2 positions), Cape Town (1 position)
    • Deadline: 16 August 2024

    About ISHS:

    • The Institute for Social and Health Sciences (ISHS) is a leading research institute with a focus on social and health sciences in an African context.
    • Home to the South African Medical Research Council-Unisa Violence, Injury, and Social Asymmetries Research Unit (VISARU).
    • VISARU specializes in multi-disciplinary research related to violence, injury, and socio-structural factors affecting health.

    Role Objectives:

    • Support Research Projects: Assist in gathering and organizing data to aid various research initiatives.
    • Data Collection: Conduct and manage data collection activities, ensuring data quality and adherence to study protocols.

    Requirements:

    • Education: Grade 12 (Matric).
    • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in data collection and capturing within a research environment.
    • Skills:
      • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
      • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
      • Effective time management.
      • Good communication skills in English and other South African official languages.
    • Qualifications: Tertiary qualification is advantageous.
    • Additional: Ability to work outside office hours when necessary.

    Responsibilities:

    • Logistics Support: Assist Project Coordinator with scheduling, reserving spaces, and managing logistics for data collection.
    • Data Management: Comply with study protocols, obtain informed consent, and ensure accurate data entry and quality checking.
    • Community Engagement: Support engagement activities to facilitate quality data collection.
    • Training and Support: Help implement training activities and support events.
    • Record Keeping: Maintain and organize databases of participant information and key stakeholders.
    • Research Assistance: Support researchers with transcribing interviews, cleaning, and preparing data for analysis.
