    Career Opportunities at the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health

    1. Medical Specialist Grade 1 – 3

    • Component: Obstetrics & Gynaecology
    • Reference Number: PMMH 15/2024
    • Number of Posts: 01

    Salary:

    • Grade 1: R1,271,901.00 – R1,348,635.00 per annum
    • Grade 2: R1,451,214.00 – R1,538,967.00 per annum
    • Grade 3: R1,680,780.00 – R2,097,320.00 per annum

    Other Benefits:

    • In-Hospitable Area Allowance (18% of basic salary)
    • Commuted overtime (conditions apply)

    Minimum Requirements:

    • MBCHB degree or equivalent qualification
    • Registration with the HPCSA as a specialist in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
    • Current registration (2024) with HPCSA as a Medical Specialist

    Experience:

    • Grade 1: No experience required
    • Grade 2: 5 years’ experience after registration
    • Grade 3: 11 years’ experience after registration

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Specialist and general clinics
    • In-patient and out-patient clinical services
    • Administrative responsibilities and training

    2. Professional Nurse Grade 1/2 (Specialty Stream)

    • Component: Antenatal & Labour Ward
    • Reference Number: PMMH 16/2024
    • Number of Posts: 08

    Salary:

    • Grade 1: R451,533.00 – R530,376.00 per annum
    • Grade 2: R553,545.00 – R686,211.00 per annum

    Other Benefits:

    • Home Owner Allowance (conditions apply)
    • 13th Cheque (conditions apply)
    • Medical Aid (Optional)
    • In-Hospitable Area Allowance (8% of basic salary)

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Basic R425 qualification in General Nursing and Midwifery
    • Post-basic qualification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
    • Registration with the SANC

    Experience:

    • Grade 1: 4 years’ experience in nursing
    • Grade 2: 4 years’ experience in nursing plus 1 year in Obstetrics and Gynaecology

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Provide holistic specialized nursing care
    • Effective resource utilization
    • Training and research participation

    3. Clinical Nurse Practitioner Grade 1/2 (Primary Health Care)

    • Component: Umzomuhle, Umlazi U21 & Folweni Clinic
    • Reference Number: PMMH 17/2024
    • Number of Posts: 03

    Salary:

    • Grade 1: R451,533.00 – R530,376.00 per annum
    • Grade 2: R553,545.00 – R686,211.00 per annum

    Other Benefits:

    • Medical Aid (Optional)
    • In-Hospitable Area Allowance (8% of basic salary)

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Basic R425 qualification in Nursing
    • Post-basic qualification in Curative Skills in Primary Health Care
    • Current registration with the SANC

    Experience:

    • Grade 1: 4 years’ experience in nursing
    • Grade 2: 10 years’ experience, with significant time in Primary Health Care

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Manage and deliver primary health care services
    • Supervise and support clinic operations
    • Implement and monitor health programs

    How to apply

    1. Submission: Applicants must complete and submit a Z83 form and a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV). Shortlisted candidates will need to provide proof of qualifications and Certificates of Service.
    2. Z83 Form: Only the new Z83 form (from 01/01/2021) will be accepted. Obtain it from any government department or download it from www.kznhealth.gov.za or www.dpsa.gov.za-vacancies.
    3. Reference Number: Clearly indicate the reference number and position on the Z83 form.
    4. Online Applications: Accessible via www.kznonline.gov.za/kzniobs. Register with a mobile phone number and valid email address, update profiles, and upload necessary documents.
    5. Security Checks: Appointment is subject to verification by the NIA including security, credit records, and qualifications.
    6. Performance Agreement: Successful candidates must sign a performance agreement within three months of appointment.
    7. Acknowledgment: Due to the high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. If no response within two months, consider your application unsuccessful.
    8. Disability Inclusion: Persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
    9. Interview Costs: No S&T payments will be made for interview-related expenses.
    10. Foreign Qualifications: Ensure foreign qualifications are evaluated by SAQA and provide proof with the application.
