The University of Cape Town (UCT) Careers Service, within the Centre for Higher Education Development, is seeking a creative and tech-savvy Digital Design and Marketing Officer. This is a full-time permanent position aimed at increasing student engagement through the effective promotion of career development events, programmes, and opportunities.
Digital Design and Marketing Officer Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and managing digital and visual communication that promotes the UCT Careers Service. They will work across a variety of digital platforms, including the website, CRM systems, electronic newsletters, and social media channels. Specific duties include:
- Design Visual Media Marketing:
- Develop visually appealing marketing materials to promote UCT Careers Service offerings within the higher education sector.
- Create eye-catching graphics, videos, and other visual content to engage students and stakeholders.
- Information Management and Marketing Online Platforms:
- Oversee and update the UCT Careers Service online platforms, including the website and social media accounts.
- Manage customer relations management (CRM) systems and Everlytics marketing campaigns.
- Ensure all online content is accurate, engaging, and reaches the target audience effectively.
- Administration, Monitoring, and Evaluation:
- Coordinate administrative tasks related to marketing campaigns, including scheduling and liaising with internal stakeholders.
- Monitor and evaluate the success of marketing initiatives, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Photography and Photography Library:
- Capture high-quality photographs that highlight the impact of the Careers Service.
- Organise and maintain the photography library to ensure a comprehensive visual archive for marketing purposes.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must have:
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree or a recognised Higher Education Diploma in Marketing, Digital Marketing, or Communications.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in digital media, marketing, or communications.
- Proficiency in graphic design software and tools, such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience with online marketing platforms, including website management and social media content creation.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams.
Additional Skills and Competencies
- Ability to curate and manage a photography library.
- Knowledge of photography techniques and equipment.
- Experience in analytics tracking and reporting.
- Strong understanding of branding and marketing strategies.
