    The Government Printing Works (GPW) is currently accepting applications for several Artisan Production positions in various trades, including Roll Collator, Examination Packaging, Web-Offset Printing, and Sheet-Fed Printing. These roles are based in Pretoria and offer excellent opportunities for skilled artisans to contribute to the production of high-quality printed materials, including security and commercial products.

    Government Printing Works Vacancies Available

    1. Chief Artisan Security Web-Fed Printing (Ref No: GPW 24/01)

    • Salary: R455,223 per annum (OSD)
    • Location: Pretoria

    Requirements:

    • Grade 10 or equivalent qualification.
    • Completed apprenticeship and passed Trade Test in:
      • Rotary Web-Offset
      • Lithography
      • Continuous Stationery Machine Minding.
    • Grade 12 is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 10 years of post-apprenticeship experience in Lithography or Rotary Web-Offset Continuous Stationery Machine Minding.
    • At least 5 years’ experience in operating multi-color computerized web-fed machines.
    • Concepta printing press experience is an added advantage.
    • 3 years of proven supervisory experience.
    • Knowledge of Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHREQ) management requirements and relevant regulations.

    Duties:

    • Operate and oversee an automated multi-color Web-Fed Continuous Stationery Concepta printing press.
    • Manage the specialized finishing processes such as the Sheeter, Folder, Numbering, and Web delivery unit.
    • Supervise the Security Special product printing team.
    • Ensure efficient utilization of production equipment to meet daily targets.
    • Provide technical assistance and maintenance of printing presses.
    • Oversee the training of apprentices, Printer Assistants, and Artisans.
    • Maintain equipment and adhere to quality assurance and control.

    • Grade 12 is an added advantage.

    • Komori printing press experience is an added advantage.
    • 3 years of proven supervisory experience.

    • Grade 12 is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 10 years’ post-apprenticeship experience in a Finishing Production environment.
    • At least 3 years’ proven supervisory experience.
    • Knowledge of mechanized binding, packaging, and printing processes.
    • Computer literacy (MS Office).
    • Ability to overcome operational challenges and a commitment to working shifts.

    • Operate packaging and finishing equipment.
    • Supervise the packaging team and ensure daily production targets are met.
    • Provide technical assistance and maintenance of equipment.
    • Oversee training programs for apprentices, Printer Assistants, and Artisans.
