Key Responsibilities
As an Administrative Officer, you will play a critical role in supporting the DAAD Information Centre’s activities. The primary duties include:
- Student Counseling: Offer guidance on study and research options in Germany, alongside information about DAAD scholarships.
- Administrative Tasks: Handle essential office duties, ensuring smooth operations within the Information Centre.
- Event Planning: Organize and execute information sessions, fairs, and other outreach events.
- Content Creation: Assist with preparing publications, promotional materials, and maintaining up-to-date information on the DAAD’s offerings.
- Digital Management: Oversee the Information Centre’s website and social media channels, ensuring that they are informative and engaging.
- Networking: Build and maintain strong relationships with partner organizations, DAAD alumni, and other key stakeholders.
Essential Requirements
Candidates for this role must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: University degree (minimum of a Bachelor’s degree). Studies or work experience in Germany is an added advantage.
- Language Skills: Fluent in English (C2 level) with a good command of German (B2 level). Certificates for German language proficiency at the B1 level or above are required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of German Education System: Familiarity with Germany’s higher education structure will be beneficial.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication abilities, strong organizational skills, resilience, and intercultural competence.
- Work Experience: Prior experience in the cultural or education sector is advantageous.
- Legal Requirements: A valid work permit for South Africa is mandatory.
Remuneration and Working Conditions
The position offers a competitive salary aligned with the remuneration scheme of the University of the Witwatersrand, governed by South African labor laws. Specific salary details will be shared with shortlisted candidates during the interview stage.
