    The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) is calling on dedicated individuals to apply for two exciting Security Officer positions based at its Head Office in Tshwane.     Security Officer Job Overview

    • Job Title: Security Officer
    • Reference Number: HRMC 11/25/10
    • Number of Posts: 2
    • Branch: Counter Corruption and Security Services
    • Salary: R155,148 – R182,757 per annum (Level 03)
    • Location: Head Office, Tshwane
    • Application Deadline: 08 May 2025

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    As a Security Officer, your main responsibilities will include:

    • Controlling Access: Ensuring only authorized individuals enter the premises, checking visitor appointments, and completing admission control registers.
    • Escorting Visitors: Guiding visitors to the correct offices or service points.
    • Monitoring Premises: Locking/unlocking entrances and spotting suspicious behaviour.
    • Incident Reporting: Following up and reporting on any unusual or unauthorized activities.
    • Stakeholder Collaboration: Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to maintain and improve security services.
    • Innovation & Technology: Supporting efforts towards digital transformation and improved record keeping.
    • Governance Compliance: Ensuring all actions are in line with security and public service regulations.
    • Staff Support: Guiding junior security personnel on best practices and compliance.

    Minimum Job Requirements

    • Education: Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate at NQF Level 4.
    • Certification: PSIRA Grade C Certificate is required.
    • Training: Must have completed a basic security officer’s course.

    Knowledge and Skills

    You should have a sound understanding of:

    • South African Constitution
    • Public Service Regulations
    • Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS)
    • Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicle Act
    • National Intelligence Strategy Act
    • Criminal Procedure Act (1977, as amended)
    • Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)

    Competencies include:

    • Good technical and security knowledge
    • Service delivery and innovation
    • Communication and report writing skills
    • Conflict resolution
    • Computer literacy
    • Willingness to work shifts or extended hours
    • High levels of integrity and accountability

    Application Process

      • Your ID
      • Educational certificates
      • Driver’s license and PDP (if the role requires it)

    5. If your qualifications are from a foreign country, submit evaluation results from SAQA.
