Key Duties and Responsibilities
As a Security Officer, your main responsibilities will include:
- Controlling Access: Ensuring only authorized individuals enter the premises, checking visitor appointments, and completing admission control registers.
- Escorting Visitors: Guiding visitors to the correct offices or service points.
- Monitoring Premises: Locking/unlocking entrances and spotting suspicious behaviour.
- Incident Reporting: Following up and reporting on any unusual or unauthorized activities.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to maintain and improve security services.
- Innovation & Technology: Supporting efforts towards digital transformation and improved record keeping.
- Governance Compliance: Ensuring all actions are in line with security and public service regulations.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate at NQF Level 4.
- Certification: PSIRA Grade C Certificate is required.
- Training: Must have completed a basic security officer’s course.
Knowledge and Skills
You should have a sound understanding of:
- South African Constitution
- Public Service Regulations
- Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS)
- Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicle Act
- National Intelligence Strategy Act
- Criminal Procedure Act (1977, as amended)
- Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
