Requirements
- The ideal candidate must be in possession of an appropriate National Diploma (NQF 6) in Fire Technology as recognised by SAQA coupled with 2 years experience in Fire and Rescue services and a valid C1 Drivers Licence.
- Essential Knowledge, Skills And Competencies Required: The successful candidate must have: Sound knowledge of Disaster Management Act;
- Fire Brigade Act;
- Knowledge of Fire and Rescue Services procedures;
- Public Service Act;
- Municipal Regulations and policies;
- Ability to analyze and interpret policies;
- Minute taking and report writing skills;
- Good organisational skills, office management and document tracking;
- Capacity building;
- Good communication skills (verbal and written) with municipalities, Traditional Institutions, Public, Private sector staff and management;
- Good computer literacy in MS Office (Ms Word, Ms Excel and PowerPoint).
Duties
- The successful candidate will be required to support municipalities and stakeholders with fire and rescue services with the following responsibilities: Monitor, evaluate and provide support with the development and implementation of plans, legislative frameworks and strategies for fire and rescue services within the Province;
- Implement and support municipalities with fire safety and services capacity building programmes;
- Support with establishment and maintenance of IGR structures in fire and rescue services;
- Support municipalities with coordination of response capabilities;
- Provide technical support for compliance with National and Provincial imperatives.

- All shortlisted candidates for SMS posts will be subjected to a technical exercise and interview. Following the technical exercise and interview, a maximum of three (3) SMS candidates will undergo psychometric assessments to assess cognitive capabilities, behavioural preferences, emotional intelligence, and integrity.
