Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification: National Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (T- or N- or S- Stream) or registration as Engineering Technician in terms of the Engineering Professions of South Africa Act, (Act 46 of 2000).
- Experience: Extensive appropriate experience in integrated Building Management Systems (BMS), CCTV, ICT operational monitoring and critical infrastructure systems within a hospital or complex operational environment.
- Experience in operational coordination, incident management and infrastructure resilience planning.
- Project and contract management experience.
- Experience in a 24-hour operational or control room environment.
- Inherent requirements of the job: Able to perform standby and call-out duties.
- Able to work shifts in a 24-hour hospital environment.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Able to respond physically on-site during major incidents.
- Competencies (knowledge/skills): Sound knowledge of integrated control systems, including BMS, emergency power monitoring, fire detection interfaces and security monitoring systems.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks including Occupational Health &
- Safety Act and applicable SANS standards.
- Understanding of structured incident management principles and the Incident Command System (ICS).
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams during operational disruptions and declared major incidents.
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Strong analytical, planning and organisational skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain situational awareness in high-risk environments.
- 24hour operational or control room environment experience.

DUTIES : Hospital Operations Command Centre Management: Manage and oversee the 24/7 operations of the Hospital Command Centre, ensuring continuous
monitoring and operational readiness of all integrated systems including BMS,
CCTV, ICT network monitoring, emergency power interfaces and contact
centre infrastructure. Major Incident Command (ICS Bronze Commander):
Function as Bronze Commander during declared incidents such as fires, flooding, power interruptions or ICT outages. Coordinate engineering, ICT,
security and support services teams, escalate to Silver and Gold Command where required, and activate Business Continuity Plans in line with the Hospital
Major Incident Plan. Regulatory Compliance and Governance: Ensure full compliance with statutory, regulatory and hospital engineering standards.
Conduct compliance audits, manage vendor performance against SLAs, certify work completion and maintain accurate operational documentation. Risk,
Incident and Communication Management: Lead investigations into system failures and infrastructure disruptions. Prepare and implement risk mitigation
plans. Oversee inbound and outbound operational communications, including dispatch of engineering, security and support service teams. Leadership and
Workforce Development: Supervise Command Centre personnel, manage shift rosters, implement SPMS processes, facilitate training and ensure compliance
with HR and labour legislation.
