  • Minimum educational qualification: Senior certificate (or equivalent).
  • Experience: Appropriate experience in an Employee Relations environment.
  • Inherent requirement of the job: Valid Code B/EB driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Competencies (knowledge/skills): Labour legislation and collective agreements.
  • Employee Relations management prescripts, policies, procedures and delegations.

Duties

  • Provide advice, support and guidance to employees and supervisors on Employee Relations matters, labour legislation, collective agreements and departmental policies.
  • Administer and monitor disciplinary cases and grievance procedures, including maintaining databases, registers and case records.
  • Facilitate the effective functioning of the Institutional Management and Labour Committee (IMLC) through coordinating meetings, compiling agendas, recording minutes and maintaining labour relations statistics.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for Employee Relations training and development initiatives.
  • Maintain and analyse Employee Relations statistics and compile reports for management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist with the preparation of conciliation and arbitration matters, including the compilation of supporting documentation and maintenance of dispute registers. -Provide supervisory support to the Administrative Clerk and Intern and assist the Senior Administrative Officer with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Promote compliance with labour legislation, collective agreements and departmental Employee Relations policies and procedures.
