Requirements

  • Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate Trade Test Certificate in Electrical or Plumbing.
  • Experience: Grade A: No experience required.
  • Grade B: At least 18 years appropriate/recognisable experience in the area after obtaining the relevant Trade Test Certificate.
  • Grade C: At least 34 years appropriate/recognisable experience in the area after obtaining the relevant Trade Test Certificate.
  • Inherent requirements of the job: Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license.
  • Willingness to work overtime and to perform standby duties, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Physically fit to handle heavy equipment and objects.
  • Must be able to work on heights i.e. on ladders and scaffolding.
  • Willingness to attend training and skills development programmes relevant to health facilities, maintenance and safety compliance.
  • Willingness to travel within the Cederberg sub-district to perform maintenance repair work.
  • Competencies (knowledge/skills): Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1993 and its relevant regulations.
  • Ability to do general building maintenance and assist with duties in other maintenance trades where required, including but not limited to basic carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and general repairs, within the scope of competence and safety

Duties

  • Perform installation, maintenance, fault-finding and repairs in the relevant trade, namely electrical or plumbing.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks in other trades where required, including basic carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing and general building repairs.
  • Lead and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team by allocating tasks, monitoring work progress and ensuring that maintenance requests are attended to effectively.
  • Perform maintenance-related administration, including completion of job cards, record keeping, reports, stock/tool control, asset information, requisitions, and followup on maintenance requests.
  • Ensure maintenance work is performed safely and in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
  • Perform financial, human resources and general administrative duties related to the maintenance function.

requirements. Ability to read, write and follow written instructions, including manuals and written procedures. Ability to optimally utilise allocated resources
such as tools and materials and be skilled in the usage of a variety of tools.
Ability to conduct fault-finding mechanical/electrical and do repairs down to
component level. Computer literacy in (i.e. Ms Word, Excel, e-mail and internet use).
