Requirements

  • Minimum educational qualification: Qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nursing Assistant.
  • Registration with a professional council: Registration with SANC as Nursing Assistant.
  • Experience: Grade 1: None.
  • Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years’ appropriate / recognisable nursing experience after registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant.
  • Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years’ appropriate / recognisable nursing experience after registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant.
  • Inherent requirements of the job: Willingness to work shifts, public holidays, after-hours, night duty and weekends.
  • Must be prepared to assist in all departments according to operational needs.
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Competencies (knowledge/skills): Computer literacy (MS Office and Outlook).
  • Basic Nursing Care principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies of the Department of Health Western Cape.
  • Skills to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, function within the multi-disciplinary team and facilitate on the level of the post.

Duties

  • Provision of basic nursing care by assisting patients with activities of daily living (physical care).
  • Ensure implementation of basic nursing care plans and effective communication.
  • Effective utilisation of resources.
  • Promotion of QA, IPC AND OHS within the department.
  • Maintain professional practice and ethical conduct and self-development.
