    List of Assistant Director Vacancies at Department of Labour and Employment

    1. Assistant Director: UI Operations (2 Posts)

    Salary: R552,081 per annum
    Centres:

    • Provincial Office: Free State (Ref No: HR 4/4/8/906)
    • Provincial Office: Limpopo (Ref No: HR 4/4/6/192)

    Requirements for Application

    To be considered for the Assistant Director positions in UI Operations, applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Educational Qualifications: A three-year tertiary qualification (NQF Level 6) in Operations Management, Public Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Administration Management, Public Relations Management, or Financial Management.
    • Experience: A minimum of four years of experience, with at least two years in an operations environment and two years in a supervisory role.
    • Knowledge: Applicants should be well-versed in the Unemployment Insurance Act (UIA), Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act (UICA), Treasury Regulations, Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Public Service Regulation (PSR), Public Service Act (PSA), and the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
    • Skills: Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), computer literacy, time management, customer relations, people management, report writing, and supervisory skills are essential.

    Key Responsibilities

    The selected candidates for the Assistant Director positions will be responsible for various operational tasks, including:

    • Facilitating employer services within the province.
    • Coordinating the assessment, validation, and adjudication of claims.
    • Managing registry services in the province.
    • Handling local appeals and complaints.
    • Providing general support and managing resources within the unit.

    Application Process

    The closing date for applications is 06 September 2024. Walk-in applications must be submitted by 16:00, and online applications are due by 00:00 midnight.

    Important Notes for Applicants

    1. Document Submission: For online applications, all attachments, including the Z83 form and CV, must be in PDF format and included in one attachment. The email subject line must indicate the correct job title and reference number.
    2. Application Forms: Applications quoting the relevant reference number must be submitted on the new form Z83, which is obtainable from any Public Service Department or online at www.gov.za/documents. Incomplete or incorrectly completed forms, as well as outdated forms, will lead to disqualification.
    3. Supporting Documents: Only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of qualifications and other related documents. Foreign qualifications must be accompanied by a South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) evaluation report.
    4. Application Instructions: All fields of Sections A, B, C, and D of the Z83 form must be fully completed. It is acceptable to reference the CV for Sections E, F, and G due to limited space on the form. Ensure that all instructions are followed to avoid disqualification.
    5. Interview Process: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a technical competency exercise and may be required to attend generic managerial competency assessments. Successful candidates will be expected to sign a performance agreement.

    2. Assistant Director: COIDA (Ref No: HR4/4/08/01)

    Salary: R552,081 per annum
    Centre: Labour Centre: Mafikeng

    Requirements for Application

    • Educational Qualifications: A three-year tertiary qualification in Public Management, Business Management, Operations Management, Nursing Diploma, or HRM.
    • Experience: Two years of supervisory experience in a disability claims or medical insurance processing environment and two years of functional experience in a similar environment.
    • Knowledge and Skills: In-depth knowledge of the Public Service Act, BCEA, Employment Equity Act, Public Service Regulations, Compensation Fund business strategies, PFMA, and Treasury Regulations. Skills in leadership, service delivery innovation, planning, problem-solving, decision-making, people management, and communication are essential.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Facilitate the processing of Compensation claims benefits within the COID Processing Office.
    • Coordinate the resolution of all COID and employer services.
    • Conduct quality assurance on all COID claims and employer services.
    • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding COID legislation and services.
    • Manage human, financial, and physical resources of the section.
