The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) is inviting South African youth graduates to participate in their Cadet and General Internship Programmes for the period of 2025 to 2027. These programmes provide an excellent opportunity for graduates to gain valuable work experience, enhance their skills, and contribute to South Africa’s national interests.
Cadet and General Internship Programmes
1. Cadet Programme 2025 – 2027
- Duration: 24 months
- Number of Participants: 25 Cadets
- Stipend: R7,450.63 per month
- Location: O R Tambo Building, Pretoria
Requirements:
- South African citizen between the ages of 18 and 35 at the closing date of applications.
- A minimum NQF Level 7 qualification in one of the following fields: International Relations, African Studies, Political Science, Economics, Law, International Trade and Investment, Political Economy, Development Studies, Development Economics, Public Governance/Administration, and International Relations.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, research, and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of South African foreign policy, national policies, and priorities.
- Understanding of international trade and investment.
Competencies:
- Ability to network and build relationships.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Team leadership and diversity management.
- Applied strategic thinking and negotiation skills.

2. General Internship Programme 2025 – 2027

- Stipend: R7,450.63 per month

Requirements:
- South African citizen between the ages of 18 and 35 at the closing date of applications.
- A minimum NQF Level 7 qualification in one of the following fields: Tourism & Hospitality Management, Supply Chain Management, Records Management/Information Science, Graphic Design & Communications, Human Resource Management, and Public Administration.
- Strong customer focus, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in computer literacy.
Competencies:
- Information gathering and analytical skills.
- Initiative and responsibility.
- Interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Important Information for All Applicants

- Updated CV.

- Only first-time applicants for the Cadet, Internship, or Learnership Programme will be considered.
- Successful candidates must be willing to sign an oath of secrecy with the Department.
- Applicants will be subjected to reference checks, security vetting, and a process of technical assessments.

The closing date for applications is set for 18 October 2024. It is important to note that late applications will not be accepted under any circumstances, so prospective applicants should ensure they submit their materials well ahead of the deadline to guarantee consideration.
