    Minimum Requirements

    To qualify for this role, you need:

    • A National Senior Certificate and a National Higher Certificate/Diploma (NQF Level 5).
    • 1-2 years of relevant experience working with communities.
    • Code 8 (EB) driver’s license for mobility.
    • Computer literacy to manage reporting, communications, and programme activities.

    4. Programme Management
      • Plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate development projects.
      • Support initiatives such as water supply, education, housing, health, and social services.
    5. Personal Attributes
      • Self-motivation, teamwork, and flexibility.
      • Positive attitude towards the public and community involvement.

      • Creative thinking and innovative approaches.
      • Team-building and conflict management skills.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    As a Community Development Worker, you will:

    • Disseminate government information to community members quickly and fairly.
    • Listen to feedback from the community and direct it to the relevant authorities.
    • Supervise volunteers and community teams working on public projects.
    • Assist communities in understanding government programmes and submitting Integrated Development Plans (IDPs).
    • Collaborate with community-based organisations and other government workers.
    • Promote Batho Pele principles (putting people first) and encourage active community participation.
    • Help resolve problems and delays in the delivery of basic services.
    • Assist communities with HIV/AIDS awareness and educational programmes.
    • Advocate on behalf of communities to government, NGOs, and private donors.
    • Monitor government projects’ impact on communities and report findings to relevant authorities.
